Sleepless Outside Seattle

The Gremlin has grown very attached to "Lickey," the stuffed 101 Dalmatian's Lucky that has been re-named because the Gremlin's "comes alive at night and licks him." On his recent trip to Chicago, the Gremlin left Lickey back in Seattle. This was becoming so traumatic that the Mother of the Gremlin stopped off at the Disney store, just to see if there was one there.

Upon arriving at the store, the Gremlin found only one stuffed dalmatian left. He bolted up to it and shouted.

"Lickey, I can't believe it! You followed me here from Seattle! I have been missing you! I am so happy!" With the stuffed animal under his arm, the Gremlin headed for the door. The MOTG tried to stop him.

"Buddy, we have to pay for that." The Gremlin was perplexed at this idea.

"Are you kidding me?! This is MY dog.  I'm not paying for my own dog!" The Gremlin was herded into line with much protest. He continued to complain and grumble, so when they reached the front of the line, the cashier was curious what was going on. After the MOTG explained the situation, the cashier was nice enough to play along. She looked at the Gremlin and tried to help explain.

"Don't worry we are only charging you for his travel expenses." The Gremlin's eyes lit up with understanding.

"Oh, a plane ticket, I get it!"

Happy Belated Birthday (And Belated Sugar Rush)

So the Gremlin's week has been full of late presents, the culmination of which came on Wednesday. The Gremlin received Allen Brothers' Cheesecake Oreo Brownie from his Uncle Thompson.

Upon receiving it, the Gremlin ran in circles through the house yelling, "Oh, thank you Uncle Thompson, I love you so much!"

It was an unfortunate blow to the Gremlin that it came frozen. To kill time, the Mother of the Gremlin took him to Green Lake where the Gremlin used another present to scoot around the path.

At each mile marker, the Gremlin would stop, turn to the MOTG and shout (as on his bike he is now faster than her), "Momma! Is my cake unfrozen yet? We need to get home before Daddy eats it all!"

When it finally did become unfrozen, the Gremlin would not eat it.

"Nono, we can't eat it! We have to wait for Uncle Thompson!"

"Buddy, he's not here."

"Yeah, but he sent cake!"

"Right, but he's in Chicago."

"But he sent cake! Why wouldn't he come over for cake?!" It took us four hours to convince him that Uncle Thompson just sent the cake as a present - that he wasn't coming to visit (during which time we were sadly not allowed to eat the cake)

Picture Update

The Gremlin recently went to visit some furry new friends

And I think they tuckered him out

The Gremlin hasn't had too much going on recently, but this weekend should provide ample video opportunities as he is getting more and more vocal. Until then, we leave you with the Gremlin reading Good Night Chicago

Kids Say The Darndest Things

The Gremlin has been spending waaaay too much time around his mother. We were talking yesterday when we had this little exchange.

"So, buddy, are you excited about moving to Seattle?"
"Um, no."
"Why not?"
"I don't want to live in the suburbs"
"Oh, buddy, Seattle's a city - not the suburbs."
"Really?"
"Yeah, it is a completely separate city than Chicago. It has suburbs, but it's a city."
"Oh, well, I guess I can live in Seattle then."
